Rio Negro - Ninette LodgeThe AreaThe Rio Negro River flows from Brazil to the Rio Uruguay in the border with Argentina. Ninette Lodge is located in the last 100 miles from the delta with the Uruguay River and Paraná River and the huge basin of the River Plate. We have this entire river to fish without any other fishing operation. The river is very picturesque, with sand bars, rocky bottom and black water clear enough to see the action of the Dorado and Tarariras when feeding out of the abundant forage fish coming from the tributaries. We can fish many points, channels and sand bars, from the boat and also wading. Lodge is located over the river banks so no time lost in traveling, we can fish from the ramp! The LodgeBuilt in 2003 this new lodge features all what a fisherman or hunter needs, no time lost. Overlooking the river from all bedrooms, sitting room and dinning room, seems to be living inside the river, we can see when fish feed, water level and wind before going fishing. Lodge accommodates 16 anglers in double occupancy or 8 in single room. Porch overlooking the river is “the place” for drinks after a fishing day.The FishingAfter breakfast we head to the river early. Fish is active when water is fresh and oxygen in water is high. Fish is active and splash of them are seen everywhere. As at the Amazon river we’ll look for those points and canals close to the banks, casting accurately under the trees and close to all stumps from fallen trees where the Hunters are waiting for the forage fish. The Blue Tararira we found here is world record size, with some of them in the 18 pounds weight. This unknown exotic fish is a great fighter, jumps a lot and because of the strong scissor teeth can cut the line at any moment requiring good skill from the fisherman. When casting the trees and all the fallen stumps it can chase the lure in an explosive splash, also when they feed in the bottom of rocky areas to bring them up from 19 feet is a great experience. We fish them in top water and also with sinking lines. The Dorado, as king of this waters is always around and size of fish here can reach the 15 pounds on the fly! A lot of smaller in the range of 8 pounds give us fun all day long. Together with those two fish we fish another strong fighter, The Boga using salmon eggs flies, and this fish can give outstanding fights in big numbers. We fish the morning and late evening, is usual to have five/ten fish in the boat for every half. Have in mind that this is a big river and surprises can happen and those numbers go higher. As a bonus we fish big ponds where the Yellow Tararira lives in huge numbers, using top lures when they strike seems like a TV coming out of the bottom to hit the lure! The TripArriving to Buenos Aires airport or Montevideo airport, our team will pick the group and drive to the ranch. It is a 3.5 hours trip. If arriving through Buenos Aires we can have a full afternoon fish, from Montevideo we fish the end of the first evening. Next three days are full day fishing, morning and afternoon with nap break. According with angler skill 5 to 6 fish per half day can be expected. While fishing at the ponds during nap break easily can fish 15 per couple hours. Last day is only a morning fish and transfer to airport to catch a plane home. If other trip is coordinated with this transfers have to be arranged at each case. Extra days to the trip can be added. Ninette staff will be meeting the group at airport and sending group back at the end of the trip. Meals are very good, all home made as our style is a t Ninette lodge. During the same trip, without loosing any activity, just a short nap!!!PricesPlease contact us so we can offer you and your friends custom-made packages to fit your specific needs. |
